Isaiah 61:1 by Nancy Cupp

When I first stumbled upon Nancy's site I was drawn in by all the colour! Nancy is a vibrant painter who also plays the harp. When I was looking at her prophetic art gallery, this painting jumped out at me. I believe it shows the power of the cross of Jesus, the Word of God and prayer, to break chains both in the spirit and the natural. Be blessed as you read!

Isaiah 61:1 by Nancy Cupp

Watercolour

"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound." (Isaiah 61:1 KJV)

I painted Isaiah 61:1 during church services on Jan. 20, 2013, the day before Pastor Saeed Abedini went on trial in Iran for being a Christian. He was sentenced to 8 years in Iran's prison. He was released on January 16, 2016 and now lives in America. On January 20, 2016 I mailed the original painting to him, exactly three years to the day that I started it. This painting is a prayer of intercession for those being persecuted. It is a reminder to use the sword of the spirit (Bible scriptures), as we pray. Jesus Christ is the living Word and the holy scriptures are alive with power as we pray them.

SWORD OF THE SPIRIT
"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12 KJV)

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ…" (2 Corinthians 10: 3-5 KJV

Pray for those around the world who are being persecuted for their faith in Jesus. Your prayers are powerful and could save someone's life, including your own! This painting is dedicated to the persecuted Christians around the world.

- Nancy Cupp

"Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak." (Ephesians 6:16-20 KJV)

Artist Nancy Cupp

When asked to describe herself, Nancy says, “I call myself a painter of hope. Some call my art prophetic. My paintings are the visual songs and prayers of my heart, exploring the mysteries of life and bringing love and healing to the soul and spirit. My art brings the mysteries of Heaven down to earth in a visual way to touch hearts and point people to our loving Heavenly Father. I want my art to point people to Jesus Christ. Watercolour, mixed media, acrylics, and coloured pencils have been my weapons of choice, with brilliant colours to brighten and delight the soul. Representational themes from nature inspire most of my art. I see God’s fingerprints on all creation. The more I get into art, the more spiritually aware I am and the closer to God I become. I want my art to touch people at the gut level, where no words are necessary, where art meets heart, and heart meets God.”
